The Summer Vacation Of Tasmania’s Gourmet Paradise

Tasmania is an island
The great wonderful Tasmania is an island separated from the mainland of Australia by 240 km of the Bass Strait. Also Australia’s smallest state, Tasmania is an island filled with rich heritage, striking landscapes, fertile wilderness with unique wildlife and wildflowers as well as world class food and wine. Tasmania enjoy mountains on the west coast, beaches and dunes on the east coast, history and heritage in the north midlands and fertile farmlands in the north west. Our summer pudding is the best in Tasmania, the proprietress assured me. I had pulled off the highway to eat at Eureka, a tiny fruit and berry farm a half-mile or so from the Tasmanian coast. The sign promised an array of bests—the best ice cream, the best fresh berries, and the sign didn't lie. When I visited in November, early spring in Australia, the strawberries had just come to enjoy.

Travel Tasmania

Lush rainforests, soaring peaks, white-sand beaches and dense bushland characterise Tasmania, Australia's island state. Enchanting forests feature the world's tallest and rarest trees, and some of the most beautiful spots in Australia are to be found on this, the smallest of the country's six states. Situated south of mainland Victoria in southeast Australia, Tasmania was named after a Dutch explorer, Abel Tasman, who sighted the island in 1642.

Today, it is home to half a million people, of which nearly half the population lives in and around the state capital, Hobart. Tasmania harbours distinct wildlife, many of which are endangered or extinct elsewhere; the infamous Tasmanian devil, the spotted-tail and the eastern quoll are the three biggest carnivorous marsupials on the planet.
